Rigorous QA Testing of Staff LiveChat is outsourced, so it can be confusing since the owners of iPage already have 25 brands under their umbrella. My experience was so-so. Phone support took less than a minute though. Helpful and very friendly staff.
Sign-up Process
iPage has a very intuitive 2-step sign-up process. After you have chose your favorite domain name or transfer your existing one, you are presented with a very nice and clean sign-up page. But be aware, there are a lot of added services pre-selected in the forms. You don't want to walk in to the GoDaddy trap and pay extra for services you'll never use anyways.
In this particular case they try to upsell:
- Domain Private Registration +$8.99/year. That's only needed if you are having trouble with the law or an ex spouse
- Prevent Identity Theft & Secure Your Data +$12.95/year. It's good to know that my files aren't safe as they are. Or are they?
- Automate Your Site Backup + $12.95/year. Ok, maybe this one is fair enough. It's a real headache when data loss occurs.
So the remaining question is, why are these features pre-selected? Simple, iPage know lazy people exists out there. Lucky for you. You just saved close to $35 just by reading this review.
